Examinations/Dates and Fees:
Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE) is an upper-intermediate level qualification. It proves you can use everyday written and spoken English for work or study purposes.
Cambridge FCE is internationally accepted by employers, educational institutions and government departments around the world as proof of ability to use English at an upper-intermediate level.
Cambridge English exams are recognised by more than 12,000 organisations around the world.
Suitable for FCE students and Upper-Intermediate (IELTS equivalent 6.5+) students.
The FCE examination consists of four parts.
Reading and Use of English (1 hour 15 minutes)
Shows you can deal confidently with different types of text, such as fiction, newspapers and magazines. Tests your use of English with tasks that show how well you can control your grammar and vocabulary.
Writing (1 hour 20 minutes)
Requires you to be able to produce two different pieces of writing, such as letters, reports, reviews and short stories.
Listening (40 minutes)
Requires you to be able to follow and understand a range of spoken materials, such as news programmes, presentations and everyday conversations.
Speaking (14 minutes per pair of candidates)
Tests your ability to communicate effectively in face-to-face situations. You will take the Speaking test with one or two other candidates.
